Moving Out & In

Every student gets very excited to move out of their homes and move into a dorm at their college. They just can’t wait, until they get there and get moved in.

They tend to get very homesick and want to go home, or they just take the L and drop out.

Tips on making a dorm feel more like home

Bring stuff from home: Most people go out and buy new things for their dorm and don’t need to. If you bring your bed sets, a few furniture pieces, etc. It can be helpful in making you feel like you are still in your bedroom.

Purchasing Appliances:

Most people have a refrigerator in their dorms. That is a given. Some people have microwaves, and that’s okay too. Personally, I have a crock pot. My roommate and I use it to cook dishes that we find on Pinterest to avoid eating out a lot. This can help in reducing your money spent on fast food each week, and can help you have a nice, warm meal like you are at home.

Pets: Pets are a great way to make you feel more comfortable in a dorming facility. Of course, if you can have them and only the types they allow.

Friends: Having friends on campus makes living on campus a breeze. Making friends with your neighbors really helps out a lot too.

Conclusion

Calling your dorm like home can be easy if you allow it to be. All you need to do is make yourself as comfortable as possible. Do anything that you can to reach that point. No one ever said it would come to that point easily, but it doesn’t have to be difficult either. Just use these few tips, and the world is yours from there.
