Lesson One: Intersections (5.1)

Intersections are where two or more roadways meet. They can vary in size and complexity. Nearly half of all crashes occur at intersections. There are many factors that cause intersections to be a higher risk environment.

What makes intersections a high risk situation?

It is a 3-way Street

Accurately sending and receiving communication is critical. Failing to recognize intersections as path restrictions results in many drivers not performing proper searches prior to entering. Searching all intersections, regardless of their design or traffic control, is crucial. It is imperative to know the clues that you are approaching an intersection.
