Lesson Four: Communication (2.4)
Communication is sending and receiving information which tells others our future intentions. Communication is something that we do all the time while we are driving even if we are unaware of it.
How do these communicate to other drivers?
- Turn Signals
- Brake Lights
- Lane Position
- Horn
- Reverse Lights
- Speed
- Hazard Lights
- Hand Signals
There are several communication options you can use alone or in combination. Communication can be timely or untimely (early or late). Timely communications give others time to respond to your intentions. Untimely communication reduces the time others have to respond to your intentions. Never assume that your communications are understood. Your attitudes and/or emotions can have an effect on your sending, receiving and responding to communications.
