Introduce Lesson Four and motivate students
Review open and closed spaces and the importance of timing when approaching a space

Define a fixed side space and moving side space

Application of Timing for Open Space Video

 

Pause the video after each clip. While the video is paused, ask the students if the driver did a good job timing for open space or if they had poor timing. If the driver used poor timing, ask students what they would do different to correctly time to open space.

Timing at Traffic Signals

Emphasize that a stopped left turn is the most dangerous turn. You are stopped and have to cross traffic. It is the turn that takes the longest.
