Introduce Lesson Two and motivate students
Approach with Awareness
As a class discussion or breaking students into smaller groups, list what you should check before entering the vehicle and share results

  • Surroundings
  • Damage to the car
  • Tire tread
  • Tire pressure
  • Fluids under the car
  • People in the car
  • Windows
Pre-Drive Video- This will cover both approaching and preparing the vehicle
Rehearsal Activity- Approach with Awareness, Pre-Drive Procedure

List out all the components of LSMILE

  • Lock
  • Steering wheel, seat (head restraint), safety belt
  • Mirrors (inside and out)
  • Ignition
  • Lights
  • Emergency (parking) brake
Rehearsal Activity- LSMILE Components.  Students to practice the pre-drive routine in the vehicle
