Lesson Six: Steering Control (1.6)
Proper vision, motion, and steering control skills prevent many collisions. Use a balanced 9 & 3 or 8 & 4 hand position for the best control and protection against airbag injury. Use Push-Pull Steering for most turns and curves, and Hand-Over-Hand Steering for very sharp, slow turns such as parking.
Push-Pull: Begin at your balanced hand position. One hand will push up while the other hand is sliding into position to pull down.
Hand-Over-Hand: Begin at your balanced hand position. When turning the wheel, one hand will cross the other and then uncross as you are turning.
